Welcome to the Alden House Inn
The Alden House is an inviting, comfortable inn located in Belfast, in the heart of Penobscot Bay, and open in the summer. Built in 1840 for Hiram O. Alden by architect Calvin Ryder, the inn features classic Greek Revival architecture, a Victorian era porch and gardens. A Hartley Botanic greenhouse and large stone patio were added recently to enhance the gardens. These outdoor spaces are all open for guests to enjoy. We are conveniently located within a few blocks of downtown Belfast with its eclectic array of shops, restaurants and beautiful waterfront. During the summer, there are artistic and musical events, two farmer's markets, and historical streets to wander.
The Alden House is also an ideal place to stay while exploring points of interest along Penobscot Bay, Acadia National Park, and Midcoast Maine.
We are closed for the 2024 Season
We will open the reservation system for 2025 on the 6th of January 2025.
If you are interested in renting the inn or have another inquiry please contact us anytime at innkeeper@thealdenhouse.com.
Our season begins in July and runs through September from Thursday through Monday with a two-day minimum stay. Based on recent travel trends and rising costs, we offer fresh-brewed coffee, homemade baked goods, homemade yogurt & granola, and fresh fruit for guests each morning.
If you are interested in renting the inn for a small private event or a weekend gathering of friends and family, we offer the common rooms, dining room, guest rooms, and outdoor spaces for your group to enjoy to themselves. We can also provide a small buffet breakfast. Please contact us to discuss options and availability with you.
