Welcome to the Alden House Inn
The Alden House is an inviting, comfortable inn located in Belfast, in the heart of Penobscot Bay, and open in the summer. Built in 1840 for Hiram O. Alden by architect Calvin Ryder, the inn features classic Greek Revival architecture, a Victorian era porch and gardens. A Hartley Botanic greenhouse and large stone patio were added recently to enhance the gardens. These outdoor spaces are all open for guests to enjoy. We are conveniently located within a few blocks of downtown Belfast with its eclectic array of shops, restaurants and beautiful waterfront. During the summer, there are artistic and musical events, two farmer's markets, and historical streets to wander.
The Alden House is also an ideal place to stay while exploring points of interest along Penobscot Bay, Acadia National Park, and Midcoast Maine.
Our 2024 season will begin in July and run through September from Thursdays through Mondays with a two-day minimum stay. Based on recent travel trends and rising costs, this summer we will offer fresh-brewed coffee & tea each morning and homemade baked goods, such as muffins, scones or bread, for guests to have here or take with them. There are several restaurants serving breakfast in town.
If you are interested in renting the inn for a small private event or a weekend gathering of friends and family, we offer the common rooms, dining room, guest rooms, and outdoor spaces for your group to enjoy to themselves. We can also provide a small buffet breakfast. Please contact us to discuss options and availability with you.
