There will be five guest rooms available during the 2024 season.

The reservation system is open for the 2024 season and we are available year round to answer questions.


Guests have full access to the inn's dining room, two parlors, library room, covered porch, terrace and gardens.  The innkeepers live in separate quarters adjacent to the inn.  A guest pantry provides use of a tea kettle, ice machine and small refrigerator for personal beverages, snacks, or restaurant leftovers.


Wireless internet is accessible throughout the house.  (Please note there are no televisions in the rooms or common rooms.) There is a window air conditioning unit in each guest room, along with a hair-dryer and basic amenities.


A sixth bedroom on the second floor, called The Old Belfast room, has twin beds but does not have a lavatory.  It can be rented in conjunction with one of the guest rooms by friends or family willing to share their ensuite facilities.  Please contact the innkeepers to reserve this room.

Hiram Alden


Named for the gentleman who built the house in 1840, the Hiram Alden Room is our largest room. It features lovely morning light and a view of the lawn and side garden. The fireplace, with its original blue tiles, is framed by an antique 7-1/2 foot hand-carved cherry mantle. The room has a handsome burled walnut four-poster queen bed, an en-suite private bath, and a Victorian marble sink in a private alcove. The Hiram Alden Room is a perfect spot for a romantic getaway.  This 258 sf room is located on the second floor.

Penobscot


The Penobscot Room features a pencil post queen bed. This large room has a pink marble fireplace. There is a private bath and sink in the room, while a dedicated shower is located one step across the hall. Plush terry cloth robes are provided for your convenience.  This 216 sf room is located on the second floor.

Mary Burgess


The Mary Burgess room, named after the second owner of the house from 1887 to 1923, is our only first floor guest room, making it the perfect choice for those who prefer not to climb the stairs. It has an original fireplace (non- working), Victorian era vanity and vintage queen size bed by Charles P. Rogers. There is a connecting en-suite bathroom. This 125 sf guest room looks out on the terrace, greenhouse and gardens.

Emily Alden


This enchanting room was named for Hiram Alden's wife and daughter, both named Emily. It features a queen- size bed with the original bookcase and (nonworking) fireplace. There is a newly updated ensuite bathroom.  This 140 sf room is located on the second floor.

Annie Partridge


Annie Partridge was the third owner of the Alden House from 1923 to 1947. A gingerbread antique queen bed is nestled into this light inviting room with garden views on two sides. The private en-suite bathroom includes a Victorian marble sink. This 125 sf room is located on the second floor.

Old Belfast


This sunny room on the south side of the house overlooks Park Street and can only be rented in conjunction with the Annie Partridge or Emily Alden rooms because it does not have its own bathroom. The room includes antique twin beds and a dresser, and a Victorian marble sink is tucked into the corner. It is perfect for families and friends traveling together. Please contact the innkeepers to reserve this room.


Rates and Reservations


There is a two-night minimum stay at The Alden House.  The guest rooms have queen beds and are equipped with a comfortable mix of antique and modern furnishings.    The Maine State Lodgings Tax of 9% will be added to the room rate.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at innkeeper@thealdenhouse.com or call us at 207.218.1110.

    • You may check for availability and make a reservation by clicking the button above, which will take you to our PCI compliant reservation system.
    • Reservations require a 50% deposit. 
    • Payment may be made by major credit card, check, or cash. 
    • Cancellations at least 48 hours before arrival are fully refundable.
    • For the safety and comfort of our guests, smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises.
    • Children are accepted at the innkeeper's discretion.  We do not recommend families bring children under the age of 10.
    • Although we love animals, we cannot accommodate pets.
    • Check in time is between 3:30pm and 7:00pm.  Checkout time is 11:00am but please let us know in advance if you need additional time.
    • Prices are subject to change.
